Who knew tennis could be so dangerous? Lesley recieved a knee injury during a tennis match friday night in Jacksonville. We spent Saturday in the emergancy room. We were told nothing specific about her injury only that it would be sore and she would not be able to walk on it. Excited with this new discovery we left several hours later with cruches and some pain medicine. She is okay and I will attempt to post pictures later.
I have learned a few things this weekend from the whole ordeal. They are listed below.
Things not to do when Lesley is injured
- Do not create cool nicknames such as "Big Limpin", "Wheels", and "The Crip".
- Do not create nicknames.
- Do not attempt to debate any position Lesley opposes.
- Do not attempt to debate.
- Do not purchase any flavor of Gatorade for Lesley save Fruit Punch Gatorade. Lesley always prefers Fruit Punch Gatorade.
- Do not touch the injury.
- Do not push the wheel chair at your desired speed. If you think you are going fast you are moving too slow. Hurry up! If you think you are going slow you are moving too fast. Slow down! - Dont understand? Me either.
- Do not go get a drink and a piece of candy from the machine.
- Do not NOT go get a drink and a piece of candy from the machine. Refer to #5.
- Do not (EVER) preface a "sorry" with, "I'm gonna stop reacting to the way you are treating me".
Seriously - taking care of Lesley has taught me alot about love. Its not all hugs, laughs, kisses, and smiles. Love is the laying down of yourself, your desires, and your "to do's" for the needs of the someone special. Love is selfless. Its been a blessing to be able to serve Lesley and take care of her.
Thanks,
James.
P.S. Look for the pictures
