Girls Night Out

Hannah and Holly had asked if we could have a girls night out while we were at the beach. It was a phenomenal suggestions, and that was probably one of my favorite nights of vacation. My mom, sister (Amy), Kyrie, Hannah and Holly all got done up for a night on the town. We did all the little girls hair, makeup and nails. Then we went to this restaurant that was a fifties dinner, complete with a Juke Box. The girls were thrilled that we got a table right on the edge of the dance floor. After dinner, we danced the night away. We went to an old time photography place after dinner, surprising the girls. We all dressed up like southern belles and had our picture taken. They couldn't have been more excited to wear those dresses with the hoop skirts.

A girls night would not be complete without a bubble bath. When we got back to the beach house we filled up the gigantic jacuzzi tub bubbles. The girls had a blast. Little girls are so much fun.

Nag's Head - Lancaster Family

We had an amazing time getting the spend a week at Nag's Head, with my parents, brother and sister and their families. Here are a few snapshots of the week.

Jamie, John, Hannah and Holly set out the first day on the beach to build a gigantic sand castle. They girls were so excited.
I wanted to spend some time with my Dad so I went fishing with him. Funny enough, we had all bought him this Ocean fishing rod and gear for his birthday. He used it a number of times with shrimp and blood worms as bait, but wasn't able to catch anything. The day that I go with him, we go on these docks under a huge bridge. We sit around for a while with out any luck. I was using a golden colored spoon (?). I had gotten a nibble but apparently my hook was too large. So I rigged up my line with a tiny hook with blood worm and the spoon attached a little bit up, cause I thought it was really attracting them. I started pulling in fish like crazy over the next 45 min, by just putting my line straight down next to the dock. Seven in total, not counting how tiny they were. My dad caught 3.
My dad and I were cracking up, cause the only way anyone caught any fish that week was me goofing around cause I was board. Some of these fish were truly small enough to go in a fish tank.

Amy and that adorable baby boy, Klyve after bath time.

Birthday Boy! This was Kye's face after he got the hand held
Nintendo DS that he had "wanted all his life". It was his 6th Birthday.

Just hanging out at the beach house, spending some quality time with My Love and my family.

Grace goes to the Ocean

In the beginning of the week, Jamie and I took Grace Darling to the beach.
SHE LOVED IT!!! She ran and ran around the beach.

We walked her in the water behind a sand bar (the water is fairly calm there). We keep walking till she couldn't touch. And she took off swimming. She seemed to love it too.

Grace Darling's Kayaking Adventure

The first night that we were here. Jamie went out in Dick's Hobie (kayak with pedals). He asked if Grace Darling could go with him. I was terrified...what is she jumped off and drowned. I agreed if Jamie stayed kind of close to our dock. So I put her in the back of the Hobie. She looked a little nervous. After a couple of minutes, she was really enjoying it. She started standing up on the side so that she could see the water better. She was so curious.

Downtown St. Mary's

I took these pictures of downtown St. Mary's. It is a small town, quaint and precious. It sits right on the St. Mary's river.

Gran Gran's House

This is Gran Gran's house. She also lives on the marsh/St. Marys River.

These are pictures that Jamie took in her back yard. The views are breathtaking.

Jackson Family Portrait

After everyone's dinner had settled at Grangran's house. I had everyone go outside and pose for some family pictures.

Dinner at GranGran's

On Friday night, we had a phenomenal dinner at GranGran's. (Jamie, me, Fran, Dick, Grangran, Aunt Vicky and Uncle Delma). She made an amazing roast with gravy and rice, green beans, and there were other things I just can't remember. There was one thing that I have never tried before (nor heard of)...Fatback. For those of you who don't know it is sort of like bacon, it's other nick name is white bacon. It is fattier than bacon, thicker and then fried. It is good, probably clogs the arteries immediately, but worth it. Grangran also made doughnut holes for dessert.

Kayaking

A couple of months ago Dick purchased a kayak, well a super fancy open kayak with foot pedals and a rudder. It is specifically made for fishing. He is so excited about it and has gotten some use out of it so far.

Today, Jamie and Dick put the kayak in the water off Aunt Vicky and Uncle Delma's dock. They live just a few houses down from Gaga and Grandaddy. Their house and dock are below.

Dick and Jamie took turns in the kayak. They were having so much fun. It was a great father-son afternoon. I was only invited down to document the event.
